Preface

One day, a simply strange young Long Islander (but not one possessing of an accent due to the strange coincidence of parents who were both Midwesterners), who was born in Oakland, California, was clamming on the flats of the Great South Bay. What occurred on that fateful day would change the course of history for all inhabitants of this planet we call Earth.

He discovered that clams were not but simple creatures, happy (at least, in a sense) with their role in the ecosystem as filter feeders in the shallow-water benthic community. Instead, he discovered that while being simple-minded, they do have a few goals. Their foremost goal is the domination of the world.

They have a complex language of their own, consisting of variations on the spit and glug noises, as well as a body language of valve openings and closings, and siphon waving. Their society and religion is intricately complex and unknown to all, save for the exception of Clambo and his band of true believers.

This, then, is the Clambo Chronicles: The story of the life of the monarch of the clams and their one true messiah, Clambo, King of the Bivalves.
